Oaks on the trailing edge

Learn more about our “Oaks on the Trailing Edge” project, a multi-year physiology monitoring project taking place at three different project sites where the changing climate is causing high levels of tree mortality. With partners from Cal Poly Humboldt, Oregon State University, and Natural Resources Conservation Service, we are measuring tree productivity and water status using specialized instruments to understand in real time how oaks are impacted by dry soil and dry air, and how restoration thinning may be helping or hindering survival. We are grateful to the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and Oregon Department of Forestry for supporting this work.
